Hi! My name is Kaitlyn L. A story by Richard Harris on NPR that I found interesting was about regulations and policies for treating sepsis because I was surprised by the fact that the protocol for such a life threatening disease could possibly be ineffective. I am interested in finding effective cures for life threatening diseases such as sepsis, cancer, and AIDS. However, in order to find effective cures, Richard Harris mentions in his book Rigor Mortis that “Precision medicine could potentially correlate specific snippets of DNA, proteins, and other molecules with disease diagnosis or prognosis.” So in order to find effective cures, scientists have to be very careful when performing procedures. The author also mentions, “Compton says even the anesthesia used in the operating room to knock out the patient can affect them.”
