Hi! My name is Janaye S. I chose the biomedical pathway because this pathway pertains strongly to the career I have planned and I am interested in science involving human life. I also chose this pathway because I knew I wanted to go into medicine since I was five years old. I spent a lot of time around medical professionals (like both my parents) and wanted to be just like them. I wanted to be able to leave a positive impact on a person’s life by solving their medical problem, or at least making it a little bit better. When I was about eight, I decided that I would focus on one of the most elaborate parts of the human body– the heart. Because of that decision, I want to become a cardiac anesthesiologist like my father. Next year in Biomed, I hope to learn more about the treatment and possible cures for cancer. The one Richard Harris story that intrigued me the most was one on how we are still using old chemotherapy techniques to try to cure cancer. It definitely made me think about how wrong our research on this deadly disease could be.
