I am Enalisa and I am going into my sophomore at the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders. I’m in BioMed because medicine and science have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. A few of my aunts died of cancer before they even hit 45, my grandfather died because of a medicine his body could not handle, and my dad is still battling with back problems and the amount of medication he takes on a daily basis is insane. My dad had meningitis, he could have died and he also could have been paralyzed from the neck down, so much could have happened to him, but it is because of biomedical engineers that my dad is still here. I am motivated knowing I have the power to make a difference; I am motivated to advance in academics because I could be the one to save someone else’s dad some day. After I found out that my dad had meningitis, I went to here to look at information about the causes and effects it could have on the human body. I am very excited to further my education in biomed and I cannot wait for next year.
