White, blue and black take over! -Dayanne Acosta

Hello and welcome wonderful peeps. I am here to inform you about what BB since 1996 has been doing the past month. Our team has finally set on the idea of beautifying our school restrooms. I know, finally! We have come up with different ideas but they have all been turned down, and the project that we are taking on right now is super fun! We decided to beautify our school restrooms because our school restroom facilities are not the most appealing. Our goal is to provide the students with a more uplifting environment while at the same time informing the students about different women who have positive impact in our society.

There were a couple of steps that we needed to take in order to move on with this project. The first one was to introduce the idea to our principals. Our whole team gathered with Ms.Waugh, and after telling her an overview of our idea we got Ms.Waugh’s approval to continue to plan our project and to continue to work on our presentation to get an official approval from our principal Ms.Goka. After finalizing some ideas, my group got together and presented to Ms.Goka. This presentation was similar to the one that we gave to Ms.Waugh, however it was more detailed. Ms.Goka seemed thrilled with our plan and officially gave us the permission to move on with our project.

Our original plan was to tackle all of our school restrooms, however after consulting as a team we came to realize that we won’t be able to make that happen. In order to beautify all of the restrooms we will have to spend a lot of time and money on them, and we don’t have enough time to finish all of the restrooms. So because of this we are currently only focusing on redesigning one restroom and that is the less appealing one. The original theme for the restroom would be Ann Richards, however we are not quite sure what theme it is right now. We plan on painting bluebonnets on the door stalls because we feel like the students will enjoy the scenery of the bluebonnets, and we also feel like the bluebonnets theme would go with Ann Richards.

Our team will continue to continue to work on the stencil and to go on a trip to Home Depot to buy the paint. We are still undecided on what paint to buy. We had settled on buying BEHR premium plus paint, and Jeff Lewis color paint. However we recently had a chat with Ms.Jo, and she explained to us that chalk paint is the way to go. We will go on a trip to Home Depot soon and hopefully we will have this paint dilemma figured out.

Overall this project is heading the right direction and I am so thrilled to continue to work on it. I didn’t know that a school project could be this fun! We will continue to keep you all updated. BB since 1996 will not fail you all. Until next time, bye!

  1. I really like the idea of you guys redesigning the restrooms since they are a little old. I was just personally wondering if you guys have been looking into paints that are low in VOC or VOC free since we are a “green” school I think investing in the paints with less VOC will be beneficial since it will have less toxins and not affect the students. I really like you guys ideas and can’t wait till the finishing product. – Kaiyla Washington
